This Henry J accordenly named "Dragon J" is owned and built entirely by Gary Bond of Adair, Iowa. The following are pictures of what he had to start with.
Gary did all the work himself in his two car garage. He added Mustang II power rack & pinion steering, 8" Maverick rear. Other modifications include angle chopping the top 4", frenched head and tail lights, lengthening the rear and shortening the front fenders. Gary also removed the drip rails, door handles, and cut and welded the door tops to the body for the pillarless look. He also added remote doors and trunk and power windows.
The interior was stitched in Amethyst tweed and plum vinyl with flames in the armrests and headliner. Gary also installed a Clarion/Pioneer/Infinity stereo, overhead console with Cyberdine digital gauges. Seats are from Honda, and there is a Gargoyle stitched into the rear deck.
The dragon theme is used throughout the car. Gary airbrushed the mural on the deck lid as well as the dash. He went so far as to engrave in on the valve covers. This guy is multi-talanted, he has completely built this car on his own and has already accumulated a driveway full of trophy's. This car is absolutly gorgous from every angle, this is the neighbor that we all dream about. Thank you Gary for allowing me to show the world your Henry J!
Body back on frame and time to dial in the running gear, not to bad for a stocker. Check out the location of the upper control arms, helps to put it in the weeds.
iBody work done, ready for some paint. You can see the rear license plate frenched into the rolled rear pan, and the molded in scoops in the rocker panel. Gary removed the body lines, extended the rear fenders 3" and modified the wheel openings to fit the tires. Motor is a SB Chevy punched .030, backed by a TH400, shifted by a B&M Z-Gate. Wheels are Boyds 3-spoke Ninja's rims with 19X12.5X15's M/T's on the rear.e to add your text.
Gary painted the car in Purple Thistle Metallic with Toreador Red ghost flames. The dragon on the deck lid was also done by him. Gary says that he drives his Henry everywhere and won the Award of Excellence at the Americruise in Lincoln, Nebraska
